ReplyDeletehow interesting it is to read all about your travels.
I see you are off to Cowes IOW - my paternal grandmother came from there - name of Southcott pronounced 'Sthcut' - she married my g/father James Kennedy in 1900 and my aunt Doreen (who lives just outside San Fran) was born on IOW.
I have traced the Southcott's back to 1650 - a bailiff - in Carisbrooke which is where Chas 1 was prisoner - maybe my great ?? was his warder:-/
I shall look forward to your impressons of IOW - it is definitely on my list for next trip - cousin Steph (a. Marg's daughter who I think you met) and I plan a good time digging about for family clues/gems.
all the bets, hugs, Coreene
As you will see from my Isle of Wight post, I loved it. I saw the room where Charles I was imprisoned.
