Places I need to go to include: Southampton City Archives; Hampshire Archives in Winchester; Dodworth near Barnsley, Yorkshire; Barnsley Family History Society; London Metropolitan Archives.
I want to wander the streets of Southampton and compare maps of the 1830s; 1900s and 2012; find some historic houses, museums and churches - those that remain after the terrible bombings of 1940.
I'd like to find a military museum and a maritime museum, for ancestors in both the Royal Navy and the merchant navy.
